Today’s Loot: 4 Steam Deals Worth Your Gold
Metro 2033 Redux — Steam
$1.99 on Steam, 90% off its $19.99 price. The Steam page does not list an end date, so treat the price as short-term.
Metro 2033 Redux is 4A Games’ remastered first-person shooter set in 2033, where survivors of a disaster live in Moscow’s metro tunnels and fight what lurks above and below.
Best for: Story-driven shooter fans who like tense, atmospheric tunnels, scarce ammo and a dark post-apocalyptic mood.
Gary’s take: Buy. At $1.99 it costs less than a vending-machine snack. CheapShark’s lowest recorded price is $0.99 from June 25, 2026. $1.99 misses the floor by $1.00, which is not worth waiting for. It is Very Positive on Steam (88% of about 29,600 reviews at time of posting) with a 90 on Metacritic. I did not verify a current G2A price, so that button is for comparison only (it opens a G2A search; check the seller rating and key region).
XCOM 2 — Steam
$2.99 on Steam, 85% off its $19.99 price. The Steam page does not list an end date, so treat the price as short-term.
XCOM 2 is Firaxis Games’ turn-based tactics sequel, set in a world where Earth is under alien rule and you rebuild XCOM to spark a global resistance.
Best for: Strategy fans who like squad tactics, tough risk-versus-reward calls and a long campaign.
Gary’s take: Buy. CheapShark’s lowest recorded price is $1.98 from April 8, 2023. $2.99 misses the floor by $1.01, which is small money for a long campaign. It is Very Positive on Steam (85% of about 45,400 reviews at time of posting) with an 88 on Metacritic. I did not verify a current G2A price, so that button is for comparison only (it opens a G2A search; check the seller rating and key region).
The Walking Dead — Steam
$2.99 on Steam, 80% off its $14.99 price. The Steam page does not list an end date, so treat the price as short-term.
The Walking Dead is Telltale’s five-part adventure horror series, set in the same universe as Robert Kirkman’s comic series, where your dialogue choices shape the story.
Best for: Story fans who like choice-driven drama more than action, and who can handle some heavy moments.
Gary’s take: Buy for the season. CheapShark’s lowest recorded price is $1.14 from November 21, 2025. $2.99 misses the floor by $1.85, which is small money for a full five-episode story. It is Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam (97% of about 25,100 reviews at time of posting); I did not find a Metacritic score to quote. I did not verify a current G2A price, so that button is for comparison only (it opens a G2A search; check the seller rating and key region).
Resident Evil 4 — Steam
$9.99 on Steam, 75% off its $39.99 price. The Steam page does not list an end date, so treat the price as short-term.
Resident Evil 4 is Capcom’s remake of its survival horror classic, in which agent Leon S. Kennedy searches a remote European village for the president’s kidnapped daughter and finds the locals are dangerous.
Best for: Action-horror fans who want a polished, high-budget scare with plenty of shooting.
Gary’s take: Buy only if you want it this weekend. CheapShark’s lowest recorded price is $4.99 from June 8, 2020. $9.99 misses the floor by $5.00, so patient players can wait for a deeper cut. It is Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam (96% of about 73,400 reviews at time of posting) with a 91 on Metacritic. I did not verify a current G2A price, so that button is for comparison only (it opens a G2A search; check the seller rating and key region).
Free on Epic Until Thursday, October 29
Epic’s current free pair, Sker Ritual and Home – A Unique Horror Adventure, stays free to claim until Thursday, October 29 at 11 a.m. ET, and the games are yours for good once claimed. Claim them on the Epic free games page. Epic’s listing shows Sorry We’re Closed as the next free game, starting October 29.
Sker Ritual — Epic Games Store
Free to keep on the Epic Games Store until October 29 at 11 a.m. ET (it normally sells for $24.99).
Sker Ritual is a co-op horror horde shooter from Wales Interactive and a spin-off of Maid of Sker. You can play solo or with up to four players against waves of enemies called the Quiet Ones.
Best for: Co-op players who want a spooky shooter to play with friends this Halloween week.
Gary’s take: Claim it before 11 a.m. next Thursday. Free is the lowest price a game can have, so this giveaway matches the floor, and a $24.99 co-op game for nothing is an easy add. I have not checked its Steam reviews yet, so I am not quoting a score.
Home – A Unique Horror Adventure — Epic Games Store
Free to keep on the Epic Games Store until October 29 at 11 a.m. ET (it normally sells for $4.99).
Home – A Unique Horror Adventure is a pixel-art murder mystery from BancyCo where your choices shape how the story ends.
Best for: Mystery fans who like short, atmospheric stories with more than one ending.
Gary’s take: Claim it. Free matches the floor, and a small choice-driven mystery is worth a spot in your library. I have not checked its Steam reviews yet, so I am not quoting a score.
Humble Bundle Loot
Per our Humble roundup, the Capcom Classics Bundle has about a week left with Resident Evil, RE2 and RE3 from $10. Hamble’s Fright or Fight runs into early November from $6 with DEVOUR and Observer: System Redux, and Twisted Trilogies and Terrors brings dark visual novels from $12 with about a week left. Confirm the end date on Humble before you buy.
Gary’s Take
Spend $1.99 on Metro 2033 Redux, the best deal on the board, and $2.99 on XCOM 2 if you want a long strategy campaign. For Halloween-week stories, The Walking Dead at $2.99 is the drama pick and Resident Evil 4 at $9.99 is the one to wait on if you can. Claim both free Epic games before next Thursday.
