Free on Epic: Home Is Yours to Keep Until Oct 29
Home is free to keep on the Epic Games Store until Thursday, October 29 at 11 AM ET. It’s a short pixel-art horror adventure and murder mystery where you decide what happened. Steam players rate it Mixed (67% of 1,775 reviews), and Epic lists it at $4.99. Claim it once and it stays in your Epic library for good.
It’s free alongside Sker Ritual this week, and both claims end at the same time. The rating is Mixed, so this one is a taste-test: it costs nothing, but it isn’t for everyone.

Free · Epic lists it at $4.99. Free to keep on the Epic Games Store until Thursday, October 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM ET.
Home first came out on PC in 2012 and reached Steam on August 31, 2012. Per its Steam page, it’s a unique horror adventure set in a beautifully realized pixel world, and it’s a murder mystery with a twist because you decide what ultimately happens.
Best for: fans of short, atmospheric, choice-driven horror.
How It Plays: Explore, Investigate, Decide

Per its store description, this is an adventure where your choices shape the ending rather than a fast-action horror game. It’s built around exploring and interpreting what you find, so expect a slow, moody game rather than jump-scare combat.
Reviews and Price History
- Steam reviews at time of posting: Mixed on Steam (67% of 1,775 reviews).
- Critics at time of posting: no Metacritic score listed on its Steam page, so user reviews are the guide.
- Price history: free is the lowest price any game can have, so today’s Epic claim matches the all-time low. For comparison, Steam sells it for $4.99 right now and Epic lists the regular price at $4.99.
Who It’s For
- You’ll like it if: you enjoy pixel art, mystery stories and horror built on atmosphere and choices.
- Maybe skip it if: you want polished action or a long game. Players are split on it, which is why it’s rated Mixed.
- PC needs (Steam minimum): Windows XP, a Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, a graphics card with 256 MB and 50 MB of space.
How to Claim It Before Oct 29
- Open the Home page on the Epic Games Store and sign in (a free Epic account works).
- Click Get, then Place Order. The total should read $0.00.
- Do it before Thursday, October 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM ET (8:00 AM PT, 15:00 UTC). After that it goes back to full price, but anything you claimed stays yours.
Gary’s Take
Worth grabbing for the price of nothing, especially if you like story-first horror. Just know the Steam crowd is split, so go in expecting a short, strange experience rather than a blockbuster. It’s tied to your Epic account, and the claim ends October 29. (I haven’t played it; this is based on the store pages and its reviews.)
Keep digging: Sker Ritual, the other free horror game on Epic this week, Out of Sight, an earlier free horror puzzler on Epic and more free games.
