Astrea is an indie roguelike from Little Leo Games, published by Akupara Games. It launched on PC on September 21, 2023, came to Switch, PlayStation and Xbox a year later, and reached iPhone and Android in July 2025. You play one of six Oracles trying to purify a star system that’s been overrun by corruption.
Best for: deckbuilder fans who want a new trick, and anyone who likes the gamble of rolling dice.
How It Plays: Dice Instead of Cards

Think Slay the Spire, but your “deck” is a bag of dice. Each turn you draw and roll dice, then spend the results to attack or defend. There are more than 350 dice to collect and customize over a run, and you can swap individual faces to shape your odds.
The twist is the Purification vs. Corruption system. Your attacks purify enemies, but some of your most powerful dice also corrupt you. Fill your own corruption meter and you start taking damage, yet each Oracle’s special Virtue ability kicks in at certain corruption levels, so flirting with the danger zone is often the smart play. You can also recruit Sentinels, little robot helpers with their own purification meters, to fight beside you.
Reviews and Price History

- Critics at time of posting: OpenCritic Top Critic Average 87 (“Mighty”), with 100% of critics recommending it. Metacritic: 85.
- Steam reviews at time of posting: Very Positive, 92% of about 4,560 reviews.
- Price history: lowest ever is free on Epic. It was a 24-hour Epic freebie in December 2024, and this week’s giveaway matches that low with a much longer window. Full price on Steam today is $24.99, and the cheapest official-store price GG.deals shows right now is about $11.87 at Fanatical.
What critics liked: PC Gamer called the Virtue system “ingenious” and the play “thrillingly swingy.” The fair warnings: a few reviewers flagged a rough early game and some balance issues that make certain fights too easy.
Who It’s For

- You’ll like it if: you’ve played Slay the Spire, Balatro or Monster Train and want a deckbuilder that feels different, or you like turn-based games you can play in short sessions.
- Maybe skip it if: random luck drives you up the wall. Dice are swingy by design, even when you stack the odds.
- How long to beat: about 12 hours for a first clear, and up to around 49 hours to see everything, per the HowLongToBeat range GG.deals shows. Six Oracles give it plenty of replay value.
How to Claim It Before Thursday

- Open the Astrea page on the Epic Games Store and sign in (a free Epic account works).
- Click Get, then Place Order. The total should read $0.00.
- Do it before Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 11:00 AM ET (8:00 AM PT, 15:00 UTC). After that it goes back to full price, but anything you claimed stays yours.
It’s free alongside Mechabellum this week. Both claims end at the same time.
Gary’s Take
Claim it, no question. An 87 on OpenCritic with every critic recommending it, a $24.99 sticker, and a price tag of zero for the next few days? That’s a treasure chest with the lid already open. Even if dice games aren’t usually your thing, it’s worth owning so it’s there on a rainy weekend.
