Sunday’s best game deal is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for $27.99 on the PS5 PlayStation Store, 60% off and the lowest price it has ever hit. Below are seven more deals that pass my test: games people actually want, cut by at least half or down to a record low.
Two things to watch. The Switch deals end Wednesday night, and the Steam picks plus Epic’s free games expire Thursday, October 1. Buy those first.

The Scroll in Brief
- Best overall deal: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (PS5), $27.99. That’s 60% off and a record low, and it runs through October 7.
- Best cheap pick: Ori and the Will of the Wisps (Steam), $2.99. It’s 90% off, an all-time low, and it holds a 90 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic.
- Best big-game discount: The Outer Worlds 2 (Steam), $34.99. It’s half off, less than a year old, and at its lowest official-store price on record.
- Ending soon: Square Enix’s Switch sale (NieR:Automata $15.99, Dragon Quest III HD-2D $29.99) ends September 30 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Epic’s two free games leave October 1 at 11 a.m. ET.
Today’s Loot: 8 Deals Worth Your Gold
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 — PlayStation Store (PS5)
$27.99, down from $69.99, is 60% off the Standard Edition. It’s a digital PS5 purchase from Sony’s Autumn Adventures sale, and the offer ends October 8 at 6:59 a.m. UTC (late on October 7 in the US). Price tracker PSprices lists $27.99 as its lowest price ever, and the sale price isn’t limited to PS Plus members. The Digital Deluxe Edition is not discounted and stays at $79.99. The 2023 game holds an 88 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic.
Gary’s call: Buy. Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine launched September 15, so interest in Insomniac’s Marvel games is high, and this is the cheapest Peter-and-Miles has ever been. Skip the Deluxe upgrade. It’s mostly suits.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps — Steam
$2.99, down from $29.99, is 90% off. It’s a PC Steam key, and the offer ends October 1. GG.deals lists $2.99 as the all-time low for the game. OpenCritic has it at a 90 Top Critic Average, with 98% of critics recommending it.
Gary’s call: Buy, no thinking required. This is one of the best-reviewed Metroidvanias out there, and it costs less than a fancy coffee. It will rarely, if ever, drop further.
The Outer Worlds 2 — Steam
$34.99, down from $69.99, is 50% off. It’s a PC Steam key, and the offer ends October 1. The Premium Edition is also half off at $49.99. GG.deals lists $34.99 as the lowest official-store price on record. A keyshop hit $30.50 months ago, but that deal is long gone. The game launched October 29, 2025 and holds an 83 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic.
Gary’s call: Buy if you’ve been waiting. Half off a big RPG that’s less than a year old is a real discount, not a fake one. The Microsoft Store still charges full $69.99, so Steam is the place.
NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition — Nintendo eShop (Switch)
$15.99, down from $39.99, is 60% off. It’s a digital Nintendo Switch purchase from Square Enix’s Tokyo Game Show sale, which ends September 30 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Deku Deals shows this price ties its previous low. The Switch port holds an 88 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic.
Gary’s call: Buy if you want it portable. Critics flagged softer visuals on Switch, so PC or PlayStation players who already own it can skip. For a Switch-only household, this price is as good as it has ever been.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake — Nintendo eShop (Switch)
$29.99, down from $59.99, is 50% off. It’s a digital purchase of the Nintendo Switch version from the same Square Enix sale, which ends September 30 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Deku Deals shows this matches the lowest eShop price on record. OpenCritic has it at an 85 Top Critic Average, with 93% of critics recommending it.
Gary’s call: Buy if you like classic JRPGs. $30 for a full-size remake is a fair price. If you’re not sure turn-based grinding is your thing, wait. This remake has now hit 50% off, and it will likely get there again.
Cyberpunk 2077 — GOG
$17.99, down from $59.99, is 70% off the base game. It’s DRM-free on PC, and it’s part of GOG’s Autumn Sale, which ends early on October 7 (2:59 a.m. ET). GG.deals shows Steam and Epic still at full price. It is not a record low: keyshops have gone lower in the past. OpenCritic’s Top Critic Average is 76, a score weighed down by its rough 2020 launch.
Gary’s call: Buy on GOG if you never picked it up. It’s the cheapest official price right now, and the DRM-free copy is yours to keep. Want the Phantom Liberty expansion too? The Ultimate Edition, which bundles it, is $31.99 (60% off) in the same sale.
Sea of Thieves: 2026 Edition — Xbox Store
$13.99, down from $39.99, is 65% off. It works on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC. Steam has the same $13.99 price. The Xbox listing showed about 10 days left, so it should end around October 7. It is not a record low: GG.deals shows keyshops have dipped to around $9. The game is also included with Game Pass Premium and Ultimate.
Gary’s call: Buy only if you don’t have Game Pass and you have a crew ready to sail. It’s a multiplayer pirate game at its best with friends. Solo players or Game Pass members should skip it and keep their coins.
Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles + Mechabellum — Epic Games Store (Free)
Free until October 1 at 11 a.m. ET. Astrea is a deckbuilding roguelike where you collect dice instead of cards, normally about $25. Mechabellum is a mech auto-battler strategy game, normally about $15. Claim them on PC through Epic and they’re yours to keep. Next up from October 1: System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster and Buried Stars.
Gary’s call: Claim both. Free is my favorite price. Even if you never install them, a 30-second claim now beats paying later.
Humble Bundle Loot
Humble has 16 game bundles running, and three stand out. The CRPG Pack: Isometric Immersion starts at $10 with Disco Elysium, and $23 adds Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. It ends the night of September 30. Decked Out Deckbuilders bundles Monster Train, Wingspan and Cultist Simulator for $12 through October 2, and Indie Fears packs 14 indie horror games, including Mouthwashing and Buckshot Roulette, for $13 through October 14.
Gary’s Take
If you buy one thing today, make it Spider-Man 2 at $27.99. It’s a big first-party exclusive at its lowest price ever, and the sale runs another week and a half, so there’s no need to panic-buy tonight.
The best value per coin is Ori for $2.99. Buy it before Thursday even if your backlog is already a dragon’s hoard. The Outer Worlds 2 at half off is the one to grab if you want something newer and bigger on PC.
What I’d wait on: Sea of Thieves if you have Game Pass, and Cyberpunk if you’re only after a record low. Neither price is a lie, but neither is the cheapest these games have been. Switch owners: the Square Enix sale disappears Wednesday night, so decide on NieR and Dragon Quest III now.
