$6.24 on Steam, 75% off its $24.99 price. The Steam page does not list an end date, so treat the price as short-term.

Slay the Spire is Mega Crit’s single-player deckbuilder that fuses card battles with roguelike runs: you climb a tower, build a deck as you go, and start over when you fall.

Best for: Card-game and roguelike fans, and anyone who wants a game that is easy to pick up in short runs.

Gary’s take: Buy. It is the best-reviewed game on the board and a deckbuilder that holds up run after run. CheapShark’s lowest recorded price is $2.49 from December 18, 2025. $6.24 misses the floor by $3.75, so wait only if you are very patient. It is Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam (97% of about 77,300 reviews at time of posting) with a 89 on Metacritic. I did not verify a current G2A price, so that button is for comparison only (it opens a G2A search; check the seller rating and key region).

Amnesia: The Dark Descent — Steam

$3.99 on Steam, 80% off its $19.99 price. The Steam page does not list an end date, so treat the price as short-term.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is Frictional Games’ first-person survival horror, built around exploring, hiding and staying alive rather than fighting back.

Best for: Horror fans who want a classic Halloween scare, played with headphones and the lights low.

Gary’s take: Buy if you want a proper scare this week. CheapShark’s lowest recorded price is $0.99 from January 6, 2025. $3.99 misses the floor by $3.00, but it is cheap enough that I would not sweat it. It is Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam (95% of about 12,900 reviews at time of posting) with a 85 on Metacritic. I did not verify a current G2A price, so that button is for comparison only (it opens a G2A search; check the seller rating and key region).

SOMA — Steam

$5.99 on Steam, 80% off its $29.99 price. The Steam page does not list an end date, so treat the price as short-term.

SOMA is a sci-fi horror game from the makers of Amnesia, set beneath the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, where you have to survive a hostile world that challenges your sense of existence.

Best for: Story-driven horror fans who like sci-fi and slow-burn dread more than jump scares.

Gary’s take: Buy if the sci-fi horror pitch grabs you; wait if you are patient. CheapShark’s lowest recorded price is $1.49 from December 12, 2025. $5.99 misses the floor by $4.50. It is Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam (95% of about 24,800 reviews at time of posting) with a 84 on Metacritic. I did not verify a current G2A price, so that button is for comparison only (it opens a G2A search; check the seller rating and key region).

Undertale — Steam

$2.49 on Steam, 75% off its $9.99 price. The Steam page does not list an end date, so treat the price as short-term.

Undertale is tobyfox’s RPG where you do not have to destroy anyone, so every fight can be handled by talking, dodging or sparing instead.

Best for: Story and music fans, RPG newcomers, and anyone who wants a short game that is cheap enough to just try.

Gary’s take: Buy. At $2.49 there is little to lose. CheapShark’s lowest recorded price is $0.99 from March 13, 2025. $2.49 misses the floor by $1.50. It is Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam (96% of about 155,400 reviews at time of posting) with a 92 on Metacritic. I did not verify a current G2A price, so that button is for comparison only (it opens a G2A search; check the seller rating and key region).

Free on Epic Until October 22

Epic’s current free pair, Bad Cheese and Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise, stays free to claim until Thursday, October 22 at 11 a.m. ET, and the games are yours for good once claimed. Claim on the Epic free games page.

Bad Cheese — Epic Games Store

Free to keep on the Epic Games Store until October 22 at 11 a.m. ET (it normally sells for $12.99).

Bad Cheese is a short psychological horror game inspired by 1920s animation, published by Feardemic. It has a creepy old-cartoon look and is meant to be played in one sitting. It is PC only.

Best for: Horror fans who like a short, strange, vintage-cartoon scare in the run-up to Halloween.

Gary’s take: Claim it. Free is the lowest price a game can have, so this giveaway matches the floor, and a short spooky game for nothing is an easy add. I have not checked its Steam reviews yet, so I am not quoting a score.

Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise — Epic Games Store

Free to keep on the Epic Games Store until October 22 at 11 a.m. ET (it normally sells for $19.99).

Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise is a spy puzzle adventure with a colorful, retro 1960s look. You play a secret agent tracking down a dangerous spy named Ruba La Rogue, solving logic and inventory puzzles to catch her. It is free on PC and mobile.

Best for: Puzzle and adventure fans who like clever, point-and-click style problem solving.

Gary’s take: Claim it. Free matches the floor, and a stylish spy puzzler is worth a spot in your library. I have not checked its Steam reviews yet, so I am not quoting a score.

Humble Bundle Loot

Every Humble Bundle live right now, with tiles for Mega Man, Decked Out Deckbuilders, IGN 30th Anniversary, Trineverse, Indie Fears and more

Per our Humble roundup, the Best of Humble: Indie Fears bundle is $13 and ends tonight, October 21, with Mouthwashing, Buckshot Roulette and more indie horror. The Capcom Classics Bundle runs through October 30 with Resident Evil, RE2 and RE3 Nemesis from $10, and Hamble’s Fright or Fight runs into early November from $6. Confirm the end date on Humble before you buy.

Gary’s Take

Spend $6.24 on Slay the Spire, the best-reviewed game on the board, and $2.49 on Undertale if you have never played it. For Halloween, Amnesia at $3.99 is the cheap scare and SOMA is the one to pick if you prefer sci-fi dread; SOMA sits further above its lowest price, so it can wait if you are patient. Claim both free Epic games before Thursday.
