New Cozy Games to Play – October 10, 2026

These are the cozy, life-sim, puzzle and creative games that launched from late September through October 9, plus the ones scheduled for October 10-24. The top pick is Order of the Sinking Star for puzzle fans, and Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea on October 15 for farming fans.

Prices are the Steam US regular price as of October 2026, and only where I could read one. Several new launches carry short intro discounts, which I note separately so you know what the real price is.

The Scroll in Brief

  • Out now: Monster Nursery (Oct 2), Forever Ago (Oct 8), Order of the Sinking Star (Oct 8) and Truckful (Oct 9).
  • Best reviewed so far: Order of the Sinking Star at 96% positive on Steam, $29.99 regular.
  • This week and next: Colorbound and Moonfrost (Oct 12), The Witch’s Bakery and Cozy Builder (Oct 14), Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea (Oct 15), One Piece: Grand Gourmet (Oct 23).
  • Proceed with caution: Dragon Shelter (Sept 24) started at 96% positive and now sits at 68% on Steam.
  • Unreleased games had no Steam price when I checked, so those say check current price.

Order of the Sinking Star

A puzzle adventure from Jonathan Blow, the director of Braid and The Witness, with more than 1,000 handcrafted puzzles across four worlds. Metacritic shows 83 on the Steam page, and it is also on Switch 2 and PS5 per release calendars. At $29.99 it is the priciest game here, but it is also the one with the strongest early reception.

Best for: puzzle fans who want hours of thinking, not relaxing in the background.

Forever Ago

A single-player road trip adventure from Third Shift, published by Annapurna Interactive. You photograph memories with an instant camera, solve small environmental puzzles and follow a story about loss and redemption. A 10% intro discount ($17.99) runs to October 22.

Best for: story-first players who like a quiet, emotional trip.

Truckful

You drive a pickup truck around, run errands for villagers and chase a mystery tied to an old forest. It is single-player from MythicOwl. User reviews are Mixed so far, though critics quoted on the page, such as Kotaku, are warmer. The intro price is $17.99 until October 23.

Best for: fans of courier games who can wait for more reviews.

Monster Nursery

An idle game where you hatch eggs, raise monsters and sell them while you are away, with 29 lo-fi tracks. It is $9.99 regular, with a 34% intro price of $6.59 until October 16. Review sample is tiny, so treat the 87% loosely.

Best for: a low-effort game to leave running.

Colorbound is a color-based palette-platformer from Panpipe Studio and Whitethorn Games, inspired by Aymara culture of the Andes. Moonfrost is a pixel-art life sim from Oxalis Games that launches in Early Access; the developers expect to finish the main story in under six months but may stay longer.

The Witch’s Bakery is a 2D narrative RPG where you play a witch running a Paris bakery, from Sunny Lab and Silver Lining Interactive. It was delayed from August 20. Cozy Builder has you restore earthquake-damaged chateaux in a vineyard valley, with online co-op, no combat and no timer, from Pangea Game Studios and indie.io.

Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea is Natsume’s farming adventure with caves, islands, animal companions and ten characters you can befriend or romance. One Piece: Grand Gourmet is a Kairosoft restaurant management sim. Bandai Namco’s own announcement gives October 23; a few calendars say October 22, likely a time zone difference.

Still Worth Catching Up On

Dragon Shelter

Released September 24 at a $19.99 regular price. It is a fantasy farming sim where you restore a farm and raise dragons who help with chores. Notebookcheck reported 96% positive in the first days, but the Steam page now shows 68% of 275 reviews positive (Mixed). Praise centered on the dragon helpers, while criticism targeted menus and early fetch quests. A free demo exists, so try that first.

Best for: farming fans willing to demo before buying.

Gary’s Take

Wait on full price for anything under 50 reviews. Order of the Sinking Star is the only new release here with a large, strongly positive sample, so it gets my pick. For farming, wait for real reviews of Echoes of Teradea before paying, since Steam had no price posted yet.

Intro discounts are small and short: 10% on Forever Ago and Truckful, 34% on Monster Nursery. None of them justify a rushed purchase. I have not played any of these, so everything above comes from store pages and press coverage.
